Plant Human Resources Manager

The Plant Human Resources Manager provides professional HR management service to the site, driving the strategy for HR activities and programmes, aligned with the business needs and consistent with Amcor Values and HR policy processes. Generally, this function supports the creation and development of the culture of Outperformance and Customer Focus at the plant, being an established role model for others by living the Amcor Values though daily decision making.


JOB DIMENSIONS, SCOPE & CAREER PERSPECTIVE

The role is based at Kreuzlingen facility. As a member of the executive committee of the site, the HR Manager acts as a real HR Business Partner and works in close collaboration with the executive committee. He/she is also strongly involved in the deployment of the Corporate HR Strategy, and works in collaboration with the other HR managers of the business unit.

• One plant employing over 300 employees in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland
• The combined turnover is approximately €127M across over 500 customers
• Operational complexity with over 30 machines on site, 6 manufacturing processes many of them operating on a 24/7 shift pattern.
• Organisational complexity: Complex and different HR situations and cases requiring a large range of skills and know-how. The job involves working in a matrix organisation and in mixed project teams with members from different departments and between Plant and Business Unit level
• Key performance indicator: Functioning HR processes in Kreuzlingen


The role exists to support the promotion of Amcor / AF EMEA HR policy and practice, and by nature will be at times action orientated and at other times advisory. Key success factor will be a strong trust and working relationship with the Plant GM, plus the establishment of credibility within the plant management teams and within the Amcor HR network

The scope of the role is the people with an employment contract in the plant, including hosted co-workers.


Key relationships:
• Reporting: Plant General Manager
• Peers: Rest of functions within the plant, member of BU Healthcare, TA and TM teams, HRIS teams, etc.
• Subordinates: The HR team in the plant, composed of 4 team members including payroll
• External: Professional advisors where required (Legal, compensation & benefits etc.), Recruitment consultants.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manage complete human resources department including the administration, processes and policies and provide professional HR practices for AF Kreuzlingen.
• As the leader of the HR department, defines priorities and assigns tasks accordingly to ensure efficient delivery of HR related KPIs.
• Attracts and develops the HR talent ensuring sustainability of the function in the long term
• Ensure that AF Kreuzlingen acts in alignment with applicable labour and social law and pro-actively update local employment regulations
• Define, manage and control manpower with capacity demands by managing actively flexible time models – workforce planning approach
• Provide guidance and support Plant management team and people managers with their day-to-day HR agenda.
• As a member of the Plant management Team you ensure and support and facilitate necessary organizational and cultural change and the development of the plant organisations, ensuring clear, timely communication, clarity of roles and responsibilities. Ensure that management and other work teams are built accordingly, which are mutually supportive, aligned and effective.
• Drive improvement in employee engagement through clear measurement, problem diagnosis and action planning.
• Attract, retain and motivate the best quality and highest calibre co-workers. Actively manage the recruitment and selection for key positions at AF Kreuzlingen aligned with the recruitment policy and talent acquisition tools and processes of AFEMEA.
• Ensure appropriate and effective local reward and remuneration systems are in place to attract, retain and motivate employees, whilst driving a high productivity & cost competitive agenda for the business.
• Ensure Management Incentive Plans which comply with AFEMEA rules and templates are in place for all key staff in accordance with Amcor policies.
• Ensure that performance is managed for all employees and that personal objectives are set and measured in a consistent manner, using the Amcor TMS tool as the basis.
• Strengthen the Talent Management processes, ensuring a talent council is properly established and run in accordance with the AFEMEA talent calendar, and that development actions are identified and followed up on. Furthermore ensure succession plans are in place for all key roles at the plant.
• Through the Performance Management and Talent Management process identify and follow-up training and development needs, ensure consideration is given to budget the necessary costs.
• Manage relationships with employees and their representatives to ensure change is facilitated smoothly, that disciplinary and /or grievance procedures are properly followed if necessary, and where required; facilitate collective bargaining at sites where this is the established practice.
• Manage employee communications in accordance with the requirements of AFEMEA communications policies and strategy.
• Implementation of Amcor/AFEMEA HR policies at the plant level, adapted to meet local jurisdictional requirements where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all Amcor policies at the plant including Code of Conduct / Competition Law / Whistleblower rules across the business.



QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

1. Formal Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience of generalist HR management.
• Previous experience of HR Management in a manufacturing environment of an international company, including working with Unionised workforces, preferably in a customer focussed business committed to “best in class” safety management and productivity / quality improvement.
• Track record of driving employee engagement, and a passion for talent development within a manufacturing setting.
• 3+ years of experience in dealing with recognized trade unions.
• Background knowledge in the area of compensation and benefits – remuneration, job evaluation, incentive plans.
• Good knowledge of Swiss employment law / employee relations / remuneration practice
• Excellent communicator (including good listener) and coordinator, with good networking skills.
• Persuasive negotiator.
• Critical skills for success are: Strong “individual contributor” and “building strong performing teams”; hands-on and able to manage multiple tasks at the same time; results driven; action oriented individual;
• able to recognise and establish priorities. Strong communications skills and ability to deliver on commitments within agreed timelines.
• Fluent in English, German is a must
