Communications Manager

Job Purpose

The Communications Manager for Amcor Corporate Communications provides strategic communications support and advice to colleagues across and at multiple levels of the organization, including senior leaders, to help the company achieve its short-term objectives and long-term aspirations. The Communications Manager develops, implements and collaborates on effective communication plans for a variety of initiatives, so that key stakeholders understand, are aligned with and are inspired by Amcor’s business strategy and operating plans.

The person holding the position is expected to: Create content for internal communications projects, using traditional and digital tools, to generate higher levels of employee engagement. Take part in external activities aimed at enhancing or preserving the reputation of the Amcor brand and its operations. And work closely with colleagues in Communications and other functions, as well as outside partners and stakeholders, in ways that help the company achieve its Winning Aspiration, develop and take advantage of capabilities that define The Amcor Way, and are consistent with the Values that guide our behavior.



Job Dimensions & Scope

Communications budget: Manage spend on agencies and projects as part of Amcor Corporate Communications budget, aligned with business partner budgets and as agreed with the Vice President, Global Communications.

Impact of business (indirect/direct): Indirect. Effective internal communications contributes to higher measured engagement, more effective execution, and higher individual and organizational success. Likewise, decision-making by leaders in all disciplines can be enhanced by sound communications advice and compelling programs.

People responsibility (direct vs. indirect): No direct reports. Engages with many and a variety of inside and outside stakeholders, including members Amcor Leaders, and provides guidance to/relies on insight from Business Group Communications leaders. Is expected to work effectively with and through others.



Principal Accountabilities

Be a communications strategic advisor and solution provider for business leaders
Develop strong relationships with business/functional leaders and other colleagues to facilitate effective strategic communications
Produce relevant and timely communications materials including, but not limited to, announcements, articles, messages, question-and-answer documents, presentations, etc.
Ensure all communications materials and activities are consistent with and advance the company’s knowledge/application of the principles of “Being Amcor”
Contribute to consistent business-wide tools to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communications initiatives
Contribute to identifying, sharing and developing best practices – individually, and as a Global Communications function
Act as a coach for leaders and executives in helping them inspire and beneficially influence the thinking and behaviour of colleagues and other stakeholders
Collaborate with Global Communications colleagues and other Amcor people to implement meaningful communications programs, including through support and coaching, that involve people from the shop floor to senior leaders
Support significant leadership and other events
Protect and enhance the Amcor brand at every opportunity


Qualifications/Requirements



Formal Qualifications and Experience

Native English speaker or equivalent, other European languages are a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or/and Journalism
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a Communications department and/or agency
Exceptional copywriting, editing and presentation skills in English
Solid, up-to-date experience and understanding of strategic communications tools, including digital/social resources and channels
Experience in executing strategies in strategic business projects, including with change management requirements, within one or more dynamic, global organizations
Background digital sensibilities, content development and publishing is a plus
